This book has been published on the occasion of the donation made by the former president (2007-2012) of the Museum's Board of Trustees Plácido Arango Arias.
In 2015, Plácido Arango Arias, former president of the Museum's Board of Trustees, donated twenty six works by Spanish artists or foreign artists with close ties to Spain: Francisco de Goya, Francisco de Zurbarán, Francisco de Herrera el Mozo or Pieter van Kempeneer, among others.
For that reason the Prado has published this catalogue, which contains an individualized study of each of those twenty-six donated works, preceded by an essay in which the importance of joint and how it fits into the collections of the Prado is valued.
