Many of the paintings in the Museo del Prado were commissioned by powerful patrons — kings, nobles, ecclesiastics — as can be seen in the quality of their pigments. This is evident in the virgins' cloaks painted by Fra Angelico with ultramarine blue, obtained from lapis lazuli from Afghanistan. This delicate, deep blue silk bag, designed exclusively for the Museum, echoes this rich tradition. Dry clean only.
