Rafael Moneo, responsible for the extension of the Prado Museum in 2007, is one of the most outstanding architects on the international scene. He won the Pritzker Prize in 1996, the Royal Institute of British Architects' Gold Medal in 2003, the Prince of Asturias Prize in 2012, Japan's Praemium Imperiale in 2017 and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2021.
The tall, slender Roman numerals, evoking ancient sundials, strongly mark the dial, which is distinguished by its simplicity and balance. Rafael Moneo incorporates the hands in rosso pompeiano, a shade of red inspired by Francisco de Goya's The Family of Charles IV, a colour that also decorates the famous Hall of the Muses.
CAUNY, founded in Switzerland in 1927, is based in Portugal. The quality of the materials is a hallmark of this watchmaker: the movement is extra-thin quartz, produced in Japan; the crystal is pure sapphire; and the bracelet is made of Horween leather produced in Chicago.
