"Emigrants" socks

Exclusive design. Made in Portugal. 80% combed cotton, 17% polyamide, 3% elastane.

The design of these socks is inspired by the cloaks worn by the figures in the foreground of Ventura Álvarez Sala's Emigrants (1908).

From 1886 onwards, emigration from the Iberian Peninsula to America experienced a strong upswing and became a recurring theme in the painting of the time. At first, the depictions had a certain emotional character, but with the introduction of photography, a faithful reflection of reality, the works mutated and became more objective. In Emigrants, the naturalness of the attitudes of the numerous figures, the sobriety of the colouring and the execution made this one of the works that best reflects the reality of emigration.
