"Hand in Hand" embroidered towel

These towels have been embroidered in Spain by the Carmelitas Descalzas who live in the Convent of the Holy Trinity and the Virgin of Carmen in León, an order founded by Saint Teresa of Jesus in 1562. The motifs that adorn this garment are taken from The Virgin of the Sagrario in Toledo Cathedral (1750-1800), which belongs to the permanent collection of the Museo del Prado.
