Dolphin Earrings “Dauphin's Treasure Collection”

925 sterling silver, plated with 24-carat gold.

These earrings are inspired by the fleur-de-lis borders and dolphins that appear on the coat of arms of the Grand Dauphin of France, reproduced on the Treasure cases. Along with the pieces of the Treasure inherited by Philip V, these cases that held them also arrived in Spain, each one designed in a practical way to fit the shape of the piece they contained.

In collaboration with master jeweller Omar Hurtado (Colombia, 1966), soul of HUMA, we present a capsule collection inspired by details from the Dauphin's Treasure, one of the most unique collections preserved in the Prado Museum. Hurtado's art, deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship, is distinguished by its revival of pre-Columbian forms, symbols and motifs, reinterpreting them in pieces that dialogue with the aesthetic and symbolic richness of those masterpieces of European goldsmithing. The unique essence of his work lies in this fusion of two worlds.

The Dauphin's Treasure consists of a group of jewels that Philip V inherited from his father, the Grand Dauphin Louis of France. It is a unique collection in Spain. It is mainly composed of vessels from various origins and periods, especially from European workshops of the 16th and 17th centuries. The pieces in the Dauphin's Treasure, made of rock crystal and hard stones and enriched with precious metals and enamels, were conceived as authentic intellectual exercises. In them, their creators expressed religious, philosophical, political and even esoteric ideas. Some vessels contain enigmas, while others reveal new meanings when used or contemplated.
