Bordeaux leather gloves
Sheepskin of Spanish origin. Made in Spain.
Beyond their usefulness, gloves in the Modern Age were a symbol of the wearer's social status and taste. In the case of women, they were also a way of protecting their delicate hands from unseemly rubbing. All these meanings and more are hidden in portraits such as Queen Anne of Austria, fourth Wife of Philip II (ca. 1616), a copy by Bartolomé González of an original by Anthonis Mor, which inspired this elegant pair of bordeaux gloves.
