Fernanda Francés y Arribas specialised in flower and still-life painting and took part in several public exhibitions from 1881 onwards, often with success. In 1890, she won a third medal for this Vase of Lilacs (circa 1890). The small flowers that are gracefully reproduced in this practical notebook are a sign of the great delicacy and elegance that the artist achieved throughout her career.
