In recent years, various donations have contributed to significantly increasing the collection of the Prado Museum. Almost all of them were aimed at strengthening specific areas of the collection, which was thus enriched. The collection that Hans Rudolf Gerstenmaier started in the seventies of the last century brings together a wide range of paintings from the final decades of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th.
Eleven of them now become part of the Prado collections thanks to his generosity. Three of them are by artists who were already represented in the Museum, such as Agustín de Riancho, Aureliano de Beruete and Joaquín Sorolla, but they provide new stylistic or thematic aspects of great interest. The other eight paintings have the added interest that their authors join or become part of the Museum thanks to the donation. They are Darío de Regoyos, Ignacio Zuloaga, Hermenegildo Anglada-Camarasa, Joaquín Mir, Eduardo Chicharro and Juan de Echevarría.
