These Rondas del Prado propose a gradual and diverse approach to the work of art, to the most concrete aspects of its material existence and also to its narrative, symbolic and liturgical values. The immediate and sensorial experience of contemplation is thus combined with an examination of the cultural connections that the works had for their contemporaries and the way in which the artist's craft and the place of painting have changed over the centuries, from the church or the palace, the public or private space, to the ordered and pedagogical, but also uniformising, layout of the museum galleries.
