Fifteenth-century Netherlandish Painting

This catalog studies the paintings made in the Netherlands during the 15th century that are kept by the Prado Museum, including those from the 16th century but linked to the work of the previous century. This is a transcendent moment for Western artistic culture, which illuminates the work of revolutionary creators, such as Jan van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden or the Master of Flémalle; that of the masters who followed in his wake, such as Dirk Bouts, Hans Memling or Hugo van der Goes and that of other authors of less fame but of equally notable production.

Individual creations, complete triptychs or fragmentary scenes of about twenty artists are cataloged, of whom a succinct biography is offered with their works and a key to attribute those that are examined, whether they are autographs, workshop or followers.
