Herrera el Mozo was and is considered a multifaceted artist. One of his most singular contributions was as a theatrical designer, and he was one of the most sought-after of his time. This allowed him to interact with the most important playwrights and dramatists of the court, including Calderón de la Barca and Juan Vélez de Guevara. For the latter he illustrated his play Los celos hacen estrellas (Jealousy Makes Stars), a work of which a precious proof is preserved in the manuscript of the play, exceptionally loaned for the exhibition Herrera the Younger.
