"Still Life with Artichokes, Flowers and Glass Vessels" placemat
Melamine and cork (base). 16 cm in diameter.
One of the features of Van der Hamen´s still-life painting for which he was best known lay in the depiction of expensive luxury glassware, such as the pieces represented in this work, Still life with Artichokes, Flowers and Glass Vessels (Juan van der Hamen y León, 1627). A tone of elegant refinement is set by these motifs, that are reproduced on this beautiful placemat, which is heat- and scratch-resistant, which appealed to the taste of Van der Hamen´s socially distinguished and cultivated clients.
