This compact notebook reproduces a detail from the work Landscape with Psyche and Jupiter (circa 1610). This painting, originally a landscape with a depiction of Saint Jerome by Bril, was modified by Rubens to become the setting for a mythological composition narrating the moment when Jupiter, transformed into an eagle, helps Psyche to obtain water from the river Styx.
