The cover of this beautiful notebook features Titian's exquisite portrait of Empress Isabella of Portugal (1548), one of the most moving works of Renaissance art. When the empress died, her husband, Emperor Charles V, did not have a portrait of her, so he commissioned the painter to create this work, which he would carry with him for the rest of his life.
