On various occasions Reni represented nude male and female bodies, almost always in the context of classical mythological stories. His conception of beauty can be seen in a masterly manner in works such as Hippomenes and Atalanta (ca. 1618-19), a detail of which is reproduced in this beautiful placemat, where the movement of the drapery gives the work great strength and movement, a work very characteristic of Reni, who demonstrated a special talent when working with them, and enhances the sensation of symmetry that is perceived through the contemplation of the work.
