In 1848 a group of young British painters including Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, Holman Hunt and Edward Burne-Jones founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, which sought inspiration in the purity and beauty of pre-Raphaelite art. His meticulous and detailed way of working gave rise to unique works that still cause a sensation today.
