Antoni Utrillo's P. F. Esbensen Butter (circa 1898-1902) is an example of the large-scale production of posters that took place around 1900, which became an explosive fad, popular in specialised publications and an object of international collecting. This work by Antoni Utrillo is representative of his work in the field of commercial posters, in which he was an outstanding representative due to his high productivity. To advertise the Danish brand Esbensen's butter, he drew a female figure in a farmhouse, resolved in the synthetic realist mode that characterises the most effective modernist poster design in terms.
