At the end of the 19th century a series of changes took place which affected everyday life and which crystallised in fin-de-siècle painting through the image of women. Women became the protagonists of the new areas that attracted the attention of artists: family intimacy, the world of work, fashion, social relevance, the underworld and new forms of leisure, love and sexuality. Fin-de-siècle painting is an indisputable example of the role of art in the creation and dissemination of female stereotypes.
