On the occasion of the exhibition On the Reverse, held at the Museo Nacional del Prado from 7 November 2023 to 3 March 2024, the magnificent work reproduced on the cover of this booklet is presented to the public: Confiscation of the belongings of a dealer's gallery (1590), attributed to François Bunel the Younger, from the Mauritshuis in The Hague. In the context of this exhibition, this painting represents with an extraordinary narrative character the relationship, even the tension, between the market value and the pictorial value of a painting through a scene depicting the raid on an establishment from which the works are taken.
