"Preparation of the Raisin" folder

When Sorolla was in Jávea for the first time in 1896, he was amazed by the raisin-making process, as the same procedure had been used since the end of the 15th century. This gave rise to several works executed at different points in his career, in which this theme was the protagonist. In Preparation of the Raisin (Transporting the Grape. Jávea) (1900), the work reproduced in this folder, the colour, the contrasts of intense luminosity on different planes and the naturalistic treatment of the figures make the painter's unmistakable style recognisable in the work.
