Emilio Sánchez Perrier (1855-1907) was one of the most outstanding Spanish landscape painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He carried out his professional activity between his native Seville and Paris, where he exhibited regularly from 1880 onwards at the Salon. His paintings were particularly appreciated for their realism, luminosity and technical precision, in the style of Martín Rico. Thanks to all this, he enjoyed great international success, chiefly among the American bourgeoisie. The drawings collected in this book, made by the artist during his travels in Spain, France, Italy and North Africa, depict natural, rural and urban scenes with extraordinary precision, taking special care to capture the light and atmosphere. The catalogue brings together a selection of the almost two hundred drawings that have been donated to the Museo del Prado by the Fundación Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno, and offers a complete overview of Sánchez Perrier's facet as a draughtsman. The three paintings and the drawing by the artist that the Prado already had in its collection are also on display.
